You can arrange (configure) the Geoide Viewer using the Geoide Author. The adjustments made in the Geoide Author can be checked in the Geoide Viewer. In order to make the changes visible you must first refresh the Geoide Viewer page with the refresh button of your browser. It is recommended to empty your browser cache first to ensure that old information is not displayed again.

Next steps show you how to configure the Geoide Viewer. The Geoide Author has a number of general principles, where relevant will be referred to these General principles.

Workflow

1. Add services to the Geoide Author.
This step makes the services accessible to the Geoide Author, so that the layer (in step 4) can refer to the service where layer information is obtained.
2. Create a Context.
The hierarchical structure in the Geoide Author is: context, maps, layers. See also the General principles. After creating a context you can add maps.
3. Add Maps.
Each context can contain one or more maps. In this step you can add one or more maps to the folder 'Maps' in the Geoide Author. After creating one or more maps you can continue with adding layers.
4. Add Layers.
Each map consists of one or more layers (and/or group layers). In this step you can add one or more layers to the map, you created in step 3.
5. Group Layers.
It may be useful and convenient to group layers. This offers the possibility to structure the legend of the map.
6. Configure various functionalities.
7. Customize the lay-out of the Geoide Viewer :In this step, you can change several lay-out aspects such as the use of color, the position of buttons and the lay-out of the toolbars. The Geoide Viewer comes default with a large number of optional buttons. You can customize the Geoide Viewer by adding or deleting buttons.

Geoide Author Management

The Geoide Author can be managed using the Admin tab. This gives you an overview of all available maps, layers, search entries, print templates, servers and reports. Within a context, it indicates whether an item is in use or not. You can remove items from the Geoide Author by clicking the - button at the bottom of the tree. The item will be removed from the database, this in contrast to the removal of items through the tabs in which you configure the Geoide Viewer. In that case, the reference to the discarded item is removed only. The item itself can still be reused later. (See also General principles).
