Configuring the Overview Map

In the Geoide Viewer you can use an overview of the map. By default you will find the overview map on the right-up corner of the Geoide Viewer window. You can easily shift the map in the main window by dragging the frame in the overview map.
The frame in the overview map corresponds to the area which is zoomed in the main window. The scale is approximately 30 times smaller.
By zoom in the box becomes relatively smaller (and the reduction factor thus larger). Eventually the box will not be reduced any more, but the range of the overview map is adjusted.
By zoom out it may occur that the overview map cannot be displayed anymore. The smallest scale of the overview map is determined by the smallest scale of the layers in the Geoide Viewer. If the overview map is out of range, then the most most restrictive scale of the individual layers has to be adjusted. If there is no maximum and minimum scale detailed in the layer properties in the Geoide Author, the values delivered by the server are used.
Steps: Adjust minimum scale in the Overview
1. Start the Geoide Author
2. Search in folders Maps, Layers and Group Layers respectively to maps, layers and group layers with the most restrictive scale, which is specified in the field Scale of the map/layer properties . If no values are specified, only the smallest scale values supplied by the server are used. In that case the smallest scale can not become smaller.
3. Change in the field Scale the maximum value of the scale number (max). As a general rule, the scale of the Overview map is a factor 30 times smaller than the scale of the map in the main window. For example, if the maximum value of the scale number is set to 3,000,000, then the overview is displayed within a scale of 1:100,000.
4. Save changes by clicking Save at the bottom of the screen of the Geoide Author.
Steps: Arrange Overview Map
1. Start the Geoide Author
2. Navigate to the map you want to arrange the Overview Map for.
3. Click on OverviewLayers.
4. Click on Existing Layer + and select the layer you want to use in the Overview Map.
5. Click Save at the bottom of the Geoide Author to save the changes on the server.
