Introduction

The operation of the Geoide Viewer will be explained in the next sections. When starting the Geoide Viewer a context will be shown with associated maps, layers, legend and if applicable pop-up screens. Which maps are shown at start-up and the number and type of buttons available in the Geoide Viewer, depends on how the Geoide Viewer has been configured.

Structure of the Geoide Viewer

The Geoide Viewer has a main screen in which the maps are shown. Top left is the legend-button to show or hide the legend. Top right is a Map Overview button to show or hid the small overview map. Bottom left is the logo with Geoide version information. Bottom right is the compass rose for navigation, and is shown what coordinate system is used including the actual position of the cursor in map-coordinates.

Both below and above are the toolbars with the various controls of the Geoide Viewer. Which buttons are included in the toolbars depends on the way the Geoide Viewer has been configured and may thus be different for each application.

Button types

Distinction is made in three types of buttons:

  • Viewer Mode buttons: these buttons put the Geoide Viewer in a certain mode (e.g. zoom mode, edit mode, ..). By default, the Geoide Viewer starts in the 'zoom' mode.
  • Action Buttons: independent of the mode in which the Viewer is, you can use the action buttons to initiate an action, such as navigating to a certain point (x,y) in the map.
  • On/Off buttons: this type of button opens a pop-up window. The pop-up windows itself may contain also action buttons.
